Troop 188 Scouts – Looking for a quick trip on the Good Friday school holiday, while still being back in town Saturday afternoon to help get ready for Easter Sunday?  Now is your chance for an overnight in the USS Cobia submarine at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, WI.  There will also be a stop on the way up to visit the Russell Military Museum in Zion, IL.
The USS Cobia and adjacent Wisconsin Maritime Museum (from http://www.wisconsinmaritime.org/):  Experience Great Lakes maritime history at the largest maritime museum in the Midwest and the first Smithsonian Affiliate in Wisconsin. Take a guided tour of USS Cobia, the nation’s most completely restored WWII submarine; learn even more about the everyday of life of the Cobia crew in our newest exhibit USS Cobia Below the Surface: Submarine Simulation Experience; operate a triple-expansion steam engine; stroll the streets of a historic Great Lakes port; scan the harbor through a periscope; explore some of the spectacular boats made in Wisconsin; and think like a scientist in our Suspect Species Investigation Lab!  Overnight participants will receive a guided tour and overnight accommodation on board a World War II submarine. In addition to undertaking various educational activities, participants will be offered special supervised access to some non-public areas of the submarine and admission to the museum.
The Russell Military Museum (from http://www.russellmilitarymuseum.com/) comprises a collection over 40 years in the making. Situated on 8 acres, there are over 300 vehicles on display including tanks, jeeps, cannons, rifles, helicopters, jets and many unique vehicles you won’t see anywhere else.
